My name is Sharon, and I am the person behind Flora helping Fauna, I have always had an affinity with animals which started when I was a child disappearing off into a field full of horses.
I believe every animal deserves to thrive, not just survive, so my holistic approach looks at their physical, emotional, behavioural and environmental needs as one. I look for the root cause of imbalance rather than symptoms.
By combining natural holistic therapies, nutritional guidance, and gentle, stress free care, I create tailored plans that suit each pet’s unique personality and circumstances, helping them live a happier, healthier, and more balanced life.
I’m originally from a veterinary nursing background, where I worked in both small animal practice and large animal and equine practice. I even did 4 years as a shepherdess.
Due to a growing family, I changed careers to allow for more time at home with my son. Re-training and entering the world of science where I studied for an Honours degree in Biomedical Science and going on to do a Post-Grad Diploma has led to a career in science for 20 plus years both in the NHS and research.
In my search to help my own animals especially my horse Nyx, I undertook training on the practitioner route for Equine Touch completing all 4 levels of training, but the Universe had different plans and led me in a different direction, looking for answers to help my horse, I learned as much as I could about the correct forage for horses. Where I stumbled across the
Research into the gut biome in animals, and how it effects the animal’s overall wellness. This groundbreaking research Carol Hughes and her research team at Bangor University do regarding the gut biome and its role in animals is a game changer, they are able to advise on the imbalance within the gut flora and how to correct it with the use of plants and allowing for natural species appropriate diet to help rebalance the gut biome. Sadly, I lost Nyx in 2016, she is still my inspiration in my journey, to continue my learning.
A new horse would continue guiding me on my journey, they say if you allow it the universe will provide. Around this time, I had a new horse but was feeling despondent, I had this beautiful young horse who had started to display similar symptoms to Nyx, could I really be this unlucky? By chance a friend mentioned the Animal Energy World Conference, where speakers from all fields and all over the world came together, respected scientists in their fields, holistic healers and holistic vets, maybe here I’d get some answers, so I signed up and never looked back, so many experts all with one goal in common to help animals heal in a holistic way, respecting them as sentient beings and individuals.
During this conference Nayana presented her five-element theory and I was hooked, it explained so much and made total sense. I signed up the next week to her on-line community and dived into learning by signing up to the practitioner Animal PsychAromatica course qualifying as an APA practitioner in 2023. This started a deep dive into nutrition, Traditional Chinese 5 Element theory and Traditional Chinese Medicine Philosophy. Learning from Nayana Morag founder of the Animal PsychAromatic system, a completely holistic health system and Neomi David who has 20 years in practice offering TCM and herbs to animals and humans.
This has led to me obtaining my Acuaromatics practitioner qualification in 2024, and my Chinese Herbs for Animal Wellbeing Practitioner qualification in 2025 and being awarded master practitioner in 2025 Attending a TCM and K9 Nutrition course in 2023 and completing Essential Oils Safety Masterclass at the Tisserand Institute 2025. To continue to expand my knowledge.
